Runners race 26 miles of Belleville’s Main Street with hope of qualifying for Boston

Runners in the seventh edition of the Belleville Main Street Marathon filled the city’s streets Saturday in the certified Boston Marathon-qualifying course.

With a time of 2 hours, 55 minutes and 30 seconds, Jeff Price, 47, finished the 26-mile course with the fastest time among 126 total runner, beating the Boston qualifying standard for his age division by nearly 25 minutes.

Mattie Carter, 27, was the fastest woman, completing the course in 3:09:31, also besting the qualifying time for the Boston Marathon.

Race organizers also conducted a half-marathon Saturday.

The marathon has been staged every year since 2016 except for 2020 during the COVID pandemic.

This year’s marathon course covered 16 miles of city streets, including the race’s namesake Main Street, and about 10 miles of paved bike trails.
