- 4-point game. Young finds Okongwu!

JARED QUAY: The 2021 All Defensive Teams were announced yesterday. And after the Sixers landed three players on that list, they came out inspired for game 4 against the Hawks. Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Matisse Thybulle clamped down on Atlanta, holding Trae Young and John Collins to just 5 for 20 shooting in the first half. But that's why they play two halves.

The Hawks turned up the defense themself in the second frame, erased a 13-point deficit, and holding Joel Embiid to 0 for 12 in the second half. In fact, the big man had a chance to give Philly the lead with seven seconds left and blew a relatively easy layup.

- And it's out of bounds, and it's Atlanta ball!

JARED QUAY: They had a chance to tie it again at the buzzer, but Seth Curry's double clutch 3 just couldn't fall.

- No good! And Atlanta wins it!

JARED QUAY: Guess he's not his older brother, huh? Those pesky Hawks just tossed a wrench into the whole process. Speaking of All Defensive, first teamers Kawhi Leonard and Rudy Gobert battled out in game 4 of their series. The Clippers got an all important home win at Staples on Monday night to tie things up at two games apiece.

- George takes it hard to the hole! PG13.

JARED QUAY: LA has never made it past the conference semis, and they're doing everything they can to strip off that underachiever label. They're going to need that Steve Ballmer full loco overdosed energy on Wednesday night in Utah if they want to take the series lead.

STEVE BALLMER: Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers!

JARED QUAY: Or at minimum, the Suns in four guy energy.

- The Suns in four!

JARED QUAY: You know that thing that James Harden does where he leans into a defender and subsequently shoots 40 free throws a game? Well, the NBA wants to put a stop to that. The NBA's competition committee is looking to curb any sideways, backwards or any movement that's not natural to an offensive player.

Guys like Trae Young and Harden have mastered this art. And, quite frankly, people are sick of it. Hey, Rules Committee? While we're at it, can we move the 3-point line but only for Dame Lillard? It's just not fair.

Finally, this hoop story warms the heart and inspires the soul. Torrey Pines High Schooler Nick Hermann was diagnosed with bone cancer in his leg at 2018. He was in the hospital for 70 days, and his doctor said he would never play basketball again. And then he did this.

He hit the game winner in California's title game, and his squad finished the season 29 and 0 and, more importantly, 1 and 0 against cancer. My dog, Hermann, crossed over cancer. You can't stop him. I wish Cantor would try to hold him. He's going to break your ankles. Show the shot again.
