Rush Limbaugh: Black Lives Matter supporters will shoot anybody who says Rep. Ilhan Omar can’t be president

Ailing conspiracy theorist and Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient Rush Limbaugh said Black Lives Matter supporters will resort to violence to make Rep. Ilhan Omar president.

The right-wing broadcaster made his comments during his Thursday program when a paranoid caller floated the idea that Omar, who joined the House of Representatives in 2019, could someday be the speaker of the House. That caller then made the leap that Omar might want to be president, even though she would be ineligible because she was born in Somalia.

“I actually don’t know the answer to that,” Limbaugh replied. “My guess is that Black Lives Matter would come along and shoot anybody who said she can’t do it.”

Limbaugh called Black Lives Matters supporters a “terrorist group” during a 2016 broadcast in which he accused the movement of “committing hate crimes.”

The 69-year-old entertainer claimed “We” have lost the country if Omar so much as becomes the House speaker, let alone the commander-in-chief.

Omar’s family came to the U.S. when she was 12 years old. The 37-year-old lawmaker, who is Muslim, became a citizen when she was 17. The speaker of the House would become president in the event both the president and the vice president were unable to execute that role.

“If she’s speaker of the House, she’s just a hop, skip, and jump away from being president if she wants to be,” Limbaugh worried.

He then conceded he was “exaggerating somewhat” and need time to contemplate his caller’s apparent doomsday scenario.

Omar appears likely to maintain her congressional seat in the fall. She holds a commanding lead over top primary candidate Anton Melton-Meaux according to Newsweek, despite trailing him significantly in fund-raising.

Current speaker Nancy Pelosi, the only woman to have held that position, appears likely to stay there unless Republicans win the house in November. She turned 80 in March.

Limbaugh, along with President Trump, stoked rumors during Barack Obama’s presidency that the two-term president may have been born in Kenya.

“He’s not a native Hawaiian. Where was he born?” Limbaugh reportedly wondered aloud in 2009. “I don’t know. Supposedly Hawaii, but we don’t have independent confirmation of it.”

Obama was born in Hawaii.
