The Rush: Nets owner rebuffs Kevin Durant’s alleged ultimatum

Kevin Durant reportedly offered the Brooklyn Nets ownership an ultimatum: trade Durant or fire head coach Steve Nash and GM Sean Marks, and owner Joseph Tsai has responded. Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker is now, rightfully, the highest paid kicker in the league after his 4-year, $24 million contract extension. The New York Giants were brawling at training camp, but we need to know more about their unique helmets. PLUS: Chiefs safety Justin Reid probably wants that Justin Tucker money after his incredible feat at practice.

JARED QUAY: It seems like there was plenty of drama at Giants camp. And we'll get to that in a minute. But we got to talk about Kevin Durant. KD reportedly met with Brooklyn Nets owner Joseph Tsai over the weekend. And we all thought it was to patch things up and make nice.

- Let's bury the hatchet.

JARED QUAY: Well, we were wrong. According to a report from "The Athletic," Durant left that meeting after offering an ultimatum. It's either me or our coach Steve Nash and GM's Sean Marks.

- Choose now.

JARED QUAY: Reportedly, Durant has no faith in the direction that the Nets are going. He had requested a trade back in June. And that trade request is still very much alive unless the Nets dump Nash and Marks. Talk about a pickle.

I don't know if Durant trying to tank his own trade value. Heck, I don't know if KD is trying to pull LeBron and become the star coach and GM all at the same time. You've got to earn them credentials, bro.

- You have to earn it.

JARED QUAY: But it does seem like he wants out of Brooklyn like Donald Trump wants the FBI out of Mar-a-Lago.

Justin Tucker is a damn good kicker, best in NFL history, I would say. And now, he's getting paid like he should. He just signed a four-year $24 million extension with the Baltimore Ravens. And 17 and 1/2 million of that is guaranteed.

- That's good money.

JARED QUAY: Man, $24 million to kick a ball a couple of times a game, now that's the good life right there. Maybe Chiefs safety Justin Reid should think about a position change.

[CROWD CHEERING]

Reid nailed a 65-yard field goal in practice. And I'll tell you what. Making money kicking sounds way better than chasing down the fastest guys in the league and having to tackle running backs all day long. Just ask Justin Tucker.

Maybe the New York Giants should take a page out of the Chiefs book and choose fun kicking competitions instead of brawls during training camp. On Monday, running back Saquon Barkley lowered his shoulder into cornerback Aaron Robinson. From there, chaos ensued as a series of brawls broke out.

Allegedly, guys are throwing sucker punches and grabbing helmets. Honestly, that just sounds like another Monday to me, personally. Then, this picture surfaced of linebacker Cam Brown dragging center Jon Feliciano who looks like he's taking a nap.

But what I need is someone to explain to me these helmets. Like these must be special training camp helmets, but why do they look like the top of R2-D2 or like the helmets from "Starship Troopers" or mushrooms from "Super Mario." Oh, I know. They're batteries. And that's why the center looks like he passed out because he ran out of juice. You got to charge your batteries, man. And clearly, Jon Feliciano is on like 4%.
