Russian forces will continue intensifying assaults on Avdiivka, Donetsk Oblast, hoping to seize the town by the end of 2023, the head of Estonian Defense Forces' Intelligence Center, Ants Kiviselg, told public broadcaster ERR on Nov. 3.

Kiviselg stated that despite heavy losses, the Russians had achieved some success in the Avdiivka area thanks to dry weather. According to him, Ukrainian armed forces have been offering organized resistance in an echeloned line of defense.

“Despite the losses, it is likely that Russia will continue its offensive activities with the current intensity over the coming weeks, probably to gain full control over Avdiivka by the end of this year,” he said.

Estonian intelligence also insists that the occupiers will increase pressure near Kupyansk to achieve the political goal of capturing the entirety of Ukraine’s Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.

In addition, Russia is trying to pin down Ukrainian forces to ease pressure on other areas of the front, Kiviselg added.
