Russia is betting on winter to reverse its fortunes, says Zelenskyy

“The terrorists' bet on winter is absolutely transparent to everyone, and this challenge should be seen precisely as a challenge to everyone in Europe,’’ Zelenskyy said.

“Moscow will use any winter-related difficulties in its propaganda as supposed proof that Europe has failed, collectively. So, we must prove to these terrorists that the word ‘failure’ is associated with them – and not with Europe.”

The resident added that after the most recent Russian air strikes, water supply was restored to all consumers in Ukraine, and for most – power supply as well, although rolling blackouts continue across much of the country.

“We will do everything to give people electricity and heat this winter,” the president said.

“But we should keep in mind that Russia will do everything it can to try and destroy normal life for us all.”

Zelenskyy also noted that Moscow spent the equivalent of 2.3 million of average Russian pensions to carry out its Oct. 31 volley of missile strikes.

On Oct. 31., Russia launched a barrage of 55 cruise missiles at power generation and distribution facilities across Ukraine, damaging 18 of them. Ukrainian military reported that 45 missiles were successfully intercepted.
