The Russian military has begun covering its strategic bombers on the ground with rubber tires — presumably attempting to protect the aircraft from further Ukrainian drone strikes — as seen on satellite images published by CNN on Sept. 5.
Satellite imagery provided by Maxar shows two Tu-95 strategic bombers at the Russian Engels airbase, clearly blanketed in what appears to be car tires.

A NATO military official, who wished to remain anonymous, mentioned to the press that the alliance is aware of this "improvisation."
"We believe it's meant to protect against drones; but we're unsure if it will have any effect," the official said.
On Aug. 19, Ukrainian drones attacked Soltsy airfield in Russia’s Novgorod Oblast, destroying a Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bomber. Another attack occurred on Aug. 30 in Pskov, where two Il-76 military cargo aircraft were destroyed and two more sustained damage.
