MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia and Egypt have reached a preliminary deal for Cairo to buy arms worth $3.5 billion from Moscow, Interfax news agency quoted the head of a Russian state arms agency as saying on Wednesday. Speaking during an arms trade exhibition in South Africa, the head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, Alexander Fomin, did not give further details. Russia, the world's second-largest arms exporter, has sought to boost its military ties with Egypt after relations between Cairo and its long-standing ally Washington soured, causing some defense cooperation between the two countries to be frozen. The head of Rosoboronexport, a state body that deals with arms exports, said the value of the agency's order book was high in spite of Western sanctions against Moscow over Ukraine. "Today our orders portfolio stands at $38.7 billion. This is one of the strongest figures Rosoboronexport has had in recent years," Anatoly Isaykin told a news conference at the same arms expo, according to Interfax. The United States and European Union have targeted Russia's arms industry as part of sanctions against Moscow for what they call its role in fanning separatist unrest in Ukraine. They accuse Russia of sending weapons and fighters to reinforce rebels battling Ukrainian government troops -- a charge Moscow has rejected. Florida Sen. Rick Scott, a member of Republican leadership in the upper chamber, said Sunday that he does not "condone violence" after Donald Trump lashed out at Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell and suggested McConnell had a "death wish"-- but Scott stopped short of condemning the former president. Trump, in a post on his Truth Social website last week, wrote that McConnell must have a "death wish" after supporting a continuing resolution to fund the federal government. Trump went on to criticize McConnell's wife in racist terms, writing that he should "seek help and advise [sic] from his China loving wife, Coco Chow!" Trump was referring to Elaine Chao, who is Taiwanese.

One of the most highly-anticipated films of 2022 was Blonde—a Netflix drama based on the Joyce Carol Oates novel of the same name, which tells a fictionalized version of Marilyn Monroe's life and stars Ana de Armas (Knives Out) in the lead role. And although the film met a mixed reception (including from PureWow) upon its release, it still managed to sit strong at the number-one spot on Netflix's most-watched movies list from the day it premiered. That was, until a new movie just overtook it. Th
