Russia hit Kyiv on New Year's Eve, at least one dead

STORY: As air raid sirens sounded across the country, Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko said one of the blasts occurred in an area of residential buildings in the capital's Solomyanskyi district, and that there were explosions in two other parts of the city.

He said at least one person was killed after what is believed to be a fragment of a missile that fell on residential buildings in the area of Protasiv Yar of the Solomyanskyi district.

Saturday's attacks were the second major round of Russian missile attacks on Ukraine in three days, with explosions reported throughout the country on New Year's Eve.
