In total, the Institute says, Russia has committed 280 crimes against journalists and the media in Ukraine.

Many of the journalists killed were killed while carrying out their professional duties.

As for the missing, the Institute of Mass Information provided the example of journalist Dmytro Khiliuk, who disappeared in Kyiv Oblast during the Russian occupation of the region. Russian soldiers also continue to abduct and capture Ukrainian media figures - nine such cases have been reported.

Russian aggression against Ukraine has also caused damage to Ukraine’s journalism industry as a whole – at least 113 regional media outlets have been forced to shut down due to threats from Russian invaders, the seizure of editorial offices, and the inability to work under conditions of occupation, etc.
