"In the area of Soledar, Russians losses were as big as in the two Chechen wars,” Cherevatyi said.

“Mobilized soldiers are the only force that allows them to maintain an offensive," he said.
On Jan. 25, Ukraine confirmed that its forces had withdrawn from Soledar after fiercely defending it from an attack that began at the beginning of the month.

The Ukrainian military said it had left Soledar in order to save personnel after fulfilling its main task — making the front line more even and preventing the enemy from achieving a breakthough.
