Russia openly threatens Lithuania over blocked transit to Kaliningrad exclave

Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Lithuanian diplomat was told that "if in the near future freight transit to the Kaliningrad region is not restored in full," the aggressor country "reserves the right to take action to protect its national interests."

The ministry added that Lithuania's actions were assessed as "openly hostile."

On June 18, Lithuanian Railways stopped the transit of sanctioned goods between the Kaliningrad region, located between Germany and Lithuania, and the Russian mainland.

The ban will affect 40-50% of the range of goods previously transported between the exclave and the rest of Russia. Among the most common cargoes are building materials, cement and metals.
