Russia sends ‘tens of thousands’ poorly trained soldiers to assault Bakhmut, Pentagon says
“Russia is sending in tens of thousands of mobilized replacement troops to strengthen positions the Ukraine weakened by fighting in Bakhmut,” Detsch wrote.

He added that, according to U.S. assessments, these troops are “ill-equipped, ill-trained, and rushed to the battlefield.”
Bakhmut remains on the major flashpoints across the entire front line in Ukraine, with Russian forces seemingly determined to capture the city. Bakhmut’s pre-war population was 73,000 people.
