He added that, according to U.S. assessments, these troops are “ill-equipped, ill-trained, and rushed to the battlefield.”

Bakhmut remains on the major flashpoints across the entire front line in Ukraine, with Russian forces seemingly determined to capture the city. Bakhmut’s pre-war population was 73,000 people.
