Russia switches mobile operators of certain areas of occupied territories to its +7 telephone code

"Phoenix" and "Lugakom" mobile operators, which operate in the territories controlled by the DPR and LPR groups [the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic and Luhansk People’s Republic], are switching to the Russian +7 phone system.

Details: According to the leader of the "DPR" [the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic] Denys Pushylin, subscribers to the "Phoenix" operator who have a number code starting with +38071 will receive an additional number with a Russian system code.

He says that the tariff will not change, and replacement of the SIM card will not be necessary at this time.

The last seven digits of the new number given to each subscriber will be the same as the last seven digits of their current telephone number. "Phoenix" numbers will receive the Russian code +7949.

At the same time, the leader of the [self-proclaimed] Luhansk People's Republic, Leonid Pasichnyk, stated that a separate [telephone] code for the mobile operator of the Russian numbering system +7959 had been given to the [self-proclaimed] Republic. According to him, the existing number of the mobile operator "Lugakom" will be used.
