The message notes that according to Russian propaganda media, Shoigu announced complete Russian control over Soledar, Klishchiivka, Krasnopillya, Blahodatne, and Mykolaivka in Donetsk Oblast, as well as Pidhirne and Lobkove in Zaporizhzhya Oblast. The minister emphasized that all the claimed “achievements” were made by the regular Russian army.

At the same time, Shoigu deliberately didn’t mention the participation of Wagner mercenaries in the hostilities in the listed areas, even though Moscow’s regular troops played merely a supporting role there, according to the report.

“This information is withheld by the Russian propaganda media, which indicates the ongoing conflict among the Russian military-political leadership,” the assessment reads.

On Jan. 25, the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that Ukrainian troops withdrew from the town of Soledar. The capture of other settlements mentioned by Shoigu is not confirmed by Kyiv.
