Russian forces attack local businesses in Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, injuring civilians Donetsk Oblast Military Administration

On the night of 2–3 September, Russian forces attacked Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, striking local businesses in those towns. In addition, the Russians struck a recreation centre in the Kurakhove hromada [amalgamated territorial community, an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories] and a kindergarten in Soledar. Three civilians were killed and three injured in Donetsk Oblast on 2 September.

Quote from Kyrylenko: "The Russians used rockets to strike [the cities of] Kramatorsk and Sloviansk and fired along the entire front line from the Kurakhove hromada to the Zvanivka hromada.

One of the rockets hit a food business in Kramatorsk, injuring one civilian, damaging two buildings and destroying nine cars. The other one hit a light industry business, causing a fire. Emergency workers are working on the site."


[Note that the word Kyrylenko used can mean either missile or a rocket; it is not clear which one the Russians used in their attacks on Kramatorsk and Sloviansk - ed.]

Details: Later, Kramatorsk town council reported that Russians launched eight rockets on an industrial facility and humanitarian aid storage sites. A warden was severely wounded; he is in critical condition.

Russian forces also struck a private business and municipal-owned businesses in Sloviansk. Early reports indicate there are no civilian casualties; the extent of the physical damage has yet to be confirmed. In addition, the Russian attacks damaged seven buildings in Bylbasivka, in the Sloviansk hromada.

The town of Kurakhove and the village of Vovchenko came under Russian fire in the Kurakhove hromada, damaging a recreation centre and one residential building. There are no casualties.

The Russians also fired on the city of Siversk overnight; information regarding casualties and damage has yet to be confirmed.

In Soledar, Russian forces opened fire and inflicted severe damage on the Chervona Kvitochka (Red Flower) kindergarten. A private house and agricultural equipment were damaged in Rozdolivka, in the Soledar hromada; there are no casualties. One person was injured in Zvanivka.

The Russians shelled the town of Avdiivka in the early hours of 3 September; there were no casualties.

Overall, on 2 September, the Russians killed three civilian residents of Donetsk Oblast: in Zaitseve, Vuhledar and Bohoiavlenivka; another three civilians were injured.
