Russian forces attempt to advance on several fronts, planting mines General Staff report

On the 175th day of the full-scale Russian invasion, Russian forces conducted assault operations on the Kharkiv, Sloviansk, Donetsk, Bakhmut and Zaporizhzhia fronts. Fighting continues on several of those fronts. In addition, Russian forces are planting mines on Ukrainian territory.

Details: There were no significant changes on the Volyn and Polissia fronts.

On 16 August, a Russian Su-34 aircraft carried out an airstrike on infrastructure targets in Zhytomyr Oblast from the territory of Belarus. There is a threat of further airstrikes and missile strikes from the territory of Belarus.

On the Sivershchyna front, Russian forces continue to relentlessly shell part of the Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts near the Ukrainian-Russian border using tubed artillery.

On the Kharkiv front, the Russians are continuing to use UAVs to conduct extensive aerial reconnaissance in order to scout the positions of Ukrainian troops and adjust their artillery fire.

In addition, the Russians fired on military and civilian infrastructure in and around Kharkiv, Petrivka, Dementiivka and another 18 towns and villages.

Russian aircraft carried out airstrikes near Staryi Saltiv and Mospanove.

The Russians are attempting to advance near Lebiazhe and Bazaliivka, where fighting is currently still underway. They are remotely delivering mines to the area near Lebiazhe.

On the Sloviansk front, they fired tank guns and tubed and rocket artillery on areas in and around Brazhivka, Velyka Komyshuvakha, Dibrivne, Virnopillia and Mazanivka.

Russian forces remotely delivered mines to the area in the vicinity of Dovhenke.

They attempted to conduct an offensive near Bohorodychne, but were unsuccessful and retreated. Fighting is continuing near Mazanivka and Novodmytrivka.

On the Donetsk front, Russian occupying forces are focusing their efforts on the Bakhmut and Novopavlivka fronts and are attempting to improve their tactical positions on the Kramatorsk and Avdiivka fronts.

The Russians used artillery to shell the areas near Mykolaivka, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Spirne, Verkhnokamianske, Ivano-Darivka, Hryhorivka and Zvanivka on the Kramatorsk front, and conducted aerial reconnaissance near Kramatorsk.

The General Staff reports that "The occupiers decided to conduct an offensive near Spirne, but suffered losses and retreated."

On the Bakhmut front, Russian troops fired on areas in and around Bakhmut, Soledar, Zaitseve, Bilohorivka and Maiorsk.

Russian aircraft conducted airstrikes on civilian infrastructure near Soledar.

In addition, the Russians conducted assault and offensive operations near Zalizne, Shumy and Zaitseve. They were unsuccessful and were forced to retreat there, though fighting is still continuing near Soledar and Bakhmutske.

On the Avdiivka front, Russian forces fired tank guns and various types of artillery on the territory in the vicinity of Avdiivka, Marinka, Niu-York, Oleksandropil, Pisky, Vodiane, Opytne and Nevelske.

Russian aircraft conducted airstrikes near Marinka, Krasnohorivka and Yasynuvata.

The Russians also used UAVs to conduct aerial reconnaissance near Krasnohorivka and Opytne. They are attempting to conduct assault operations near the latter; fighting is currently still underway there.

On the Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia fronts, Russian forces used tubed and rocket artillery, as well as tank guns to fire on areas in and around Velyka Novosilka, Novosilka, Novomykhailivka, Pavlivka, Bohoiavlenka, Sontsivka, Stepnohirsk, Shevchenko, Vuhledar, Burlatske, Charivne, Zaliznychne, Huliaipole, Huliaipilske, Novodanylivka, Lukʼianivske, Orikhiv, Vremivka, Poltavka, Novopil and Novoandriivka.

Russian aircraft conducted airstrikes near Novosilka, Volodymyrivka and Shcherbaky.

The Russians conducted an offensive in the vicinity of Shevchenkove, but were repelled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and retreated. Fighting is continuing near Novomykhailivka.

Russian occupying forces have remotely delivered mines to the areas around Inzhenerne and Ukrainske.

On the Pivdennyi Buh front, Russian troops’ main efforts are focused on maintaining their current positions, preventing the Ukrainian forces from advancing and firing on units of the Ukrainian Defence Forces in the area with the aim of inflicting losses.

Quote from the General Staff: "The enemy is undertaking measures to replenish losses. [Russian forces] used tubed and rocket artillery, as well as tanks, to fire on areas around Mykolaiv, Stepova Dolyna and another 27 towns and villages.

The occupiers carried out airstrikes and offensives near Bilohirka. Ukrainian forces have inflicted significant losses on Russian military personnel and forced the enemy to flee.

The enemy is continuing to use UAVs to conduct aerial reconnaissance."
