Russian invasion forces launch overnight missile attack on Kharkiv, causing damage and casualties

According to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov, the Kyivskiy city district came under enemy attack. The Russians hit a residential building, causing serious damage and a fire.

What was probably an S-300 missile hit a house in the city center, the administration said. All emergency services are on site. The missiles from the S-300 air defense system can be set to a ground attack mode, but in this mode they are inaccurate.

Information about casualties and destruction is being clarified. As of 11 p.m., at least three people are known to have been injured, and one killed.

The State Emergency Service (DSNS) reported that six fire trucks, two ladder trucks, a first aid vehicle and a special emergency rescue vehicle were sent to the scene of the enemy missile attack.

At the time of the arrival of the units of the DSNS, the destroyed roof of the building on an area of about 450 square meters was burning. In order to get to the sources of fire, the firefighters had to dismantle the debris. About 40 personnel of the State Emergency Service are working at the scene.

At 23:38 p.m., the fire was contained. Work to completely extinguish it, as well as emergency and rescue operations, are ongoing.

Correspondents of medium Suspilne Kharkiv reported that the fourth floor of one of the entrances was completely destroyed as a result of the Russian missile strike. According to local residents, at least two wounded people were taken out of the house.

Synegubov reported at least three victims. One person died. Rescue operations are ongoing.

Elsewhere on Jan. 29, the Russians launched a massive shelling of the liberated city of Kherson. Three people died, and nine were injured. In particular, the Kherson Regional Clinical Hospital came under attack, and two nurses there were injured.
