Russian laborers in Mariupol are left without pay

“The invaders bring Russian worker to occupied (Ukrainian) territories,” the message said.
“They are promised high salaries, but are then left out to dry. Locals can’t get hired for these jobs.”

In particular, the council said that masons and electricians came to Mariupol from St Petersburg, lured by promised salaries that were advertised to be double of what they’d get in Russia.
“We’re already seeing videos of these migrant workers saying they were swindled,” the message said.

“They were working with no contracts, and are now left without pay altogether.”
Meanwhile, most Mariupol locals can’t find work.
Public services workers in the city are on strike over not getting paid.
Mariupol has been under Russian occupation since mid-May, when the city fell, following 80 days of brutal siege.
According to Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov, the heroic defense, mounted by Mariupol garrison, prevented as many as 20,000 Russian troops pouring into Zaporizhzhya and Donetsk oblasts.
