Russian military clears mines in Nagorno-Karabakh

A video released by the Russian defense ministry on Tuesday (November 24) showed a group of de-miners working on a road using special equipment and a dog to search for explosives.

According to the ministry, the main task for the de-miners was clearing the roads connecting peacekeepers' observation posts as well as communal roads.

Nagorno-Karabakh is internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan but is populated by ethnic Armenians.

2,000 Russian peacekeepers were deployed to the region as part of the Nov. 10 ceasefire agreement, which ended weeks of fighting between Azerbaijan's troops and ethnic Armenian forces in the enclave, and locked in Azerbaijan's territorial gains from the fighting.
