Shaktarsk is about 50 kilometers behind enemy lines, to the east of the Russian-occupied city of Donetsk. Stratcom said the Ukrainian strike had been carried out using U.S.-supplied HIMARS artillery weapons.

It noted that all of the deputy commanders of the 106th Russian airborne division were killed, except for one. The latter, with the nom de guerre Barsuk (Badger), has been hospitalized in a serious condition.

Valentin Danilov (rank unknown), head of Rocket Artillery Service 58 a (military unit 47084, Vladikavkaz) of Russia's Southern military district, was also killed today.

A series of explosions at the ammunition depots of the Russian invaders in Shakhtarsk were reported on July 8.
