Russian Ministry of Defence: Not a single strike made on Kyiv

The Ministry of Defence of Russia has spread yet another lie that it did not conduct a missile attack on Kyiv on 23 November.

Details: The Russians have admitted striking Ukraine, but in relation to the capital of the country, they declared that "not a single strike has been made on targets within Kyiv."

The Russian military came up with the fabrication that "the destruction in the city was the result of the fall of foreign and Ukrainian air defence missiles."

The Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation also lied that, in general, the strikes were carried out "on Ukraine’s military command system and related energy facilities."

Background:

  • Vitalii Klychko, the Mayor of Kyiv, has reported that 31 missiles were fired on Kyiv on the afternoon of 23 November. Ukrainian defenders managed to shoot down 21 of them, but several critical infrastructure facilities have been damaged.

  • Following Russia’s most recent large-scale missile attack on Ukraine, Vasily Nebenzya, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, has blamed Ukraine’s air defence systems and the West’s "pumping Ukraine with weapons" for civilian casualties and damage to Ukraine’s critical civilian infrastructure.
