Warsaw does not have such missiles in service, so it couldn't have been fired from a Polish training ground, for example, during exercises or tests of air defense systems.

The X-55 missile was highly likely fired from Belarus, although the information is still needed to be confirmed.

Before crashing, could have flown about 300-500 kilometers across Poland, BBC News Ukraine suggested.

The missile probably entered Polish airspace during a Russian mass missile attack on Ukraine in late December. Russia at that time was using Su-34 bombers based in Belarus to launch missiles at Ukraine.

Polish defense services tracked an aerial object but lost sight of it near Bydgoszcz, RMF24 recalled. The track was lost was about two kilometers away from where a civilian came across the remains of a missile in late April.

Despite it being one of their duties, the Polish military didn't immediately report to the prosecutor's office about an unidentified object violating Polish airspace, journalists added.

The Polish Prosecutor General reported on April 27 that the wreckage of an unknown military aircraft had been found in a forest in the north of the country. The Ministry of Defense also confirmed the information.

Journalists speculated it was an air-to-ground missile. The wreckage had inscriptions in Russian, but the warhead was missing.
