“At approximately 10.33 a.m., these missiles crossed Romanian airspace. After that, they again entered the airspace of Ukraine at the crossing point of the three states' borders,” he wrote.

The NV sister publication, Ukrainska Pravda, quoted a Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson saying separately that Ukraine had the ability to shoot down the missiles. However, it did not do so for fear of endangering civilians in foreign countries.

Moldova’s Foreign Ministry has summoned Russia’s ambassador after the incident in which Kyiv says Russian cruise missiles crossed parts of Moldovan and Romanian airspace before entering western Ukraine.
