Russian occupation regime ramps up pressure on Kherson Oblast

Ahead of the so-called "referendum" on the accession of Russian-occupied Kherson Oblast to the Russian Federation [planned for September 2022 - ed.], Russian occupation authorities are doubling down on filtration procedures and other terrorist measures in the oblast.

Quote: "Unfortunately, the [Russians’] preparation for the grand performance [the so-called "referendum" on joining Russia - ed.] will result only in a doubling down on filtration procedures and other terrorist measures.

The occupiers are rigorously inspecting all of Kherson, including garages, basements and attics, industrial and municipal facilities."

Details: Sobolevskyi has advised the residents of Kherson Oblast to be extremely careful and stay away from Russian occupying forces.

"The orcs [Russian soldiers - ed.] rely on the Soviet rulebooks and the ‘plan’ method, whereby they have to fulfil certain predetermined monthly, calendar-based targets of the number of 'extremists’, ‘saboteurs’ and ‘partisans’ caught," Sobolevskyi noted.

He added that Russian occupation authorities are planning to hold so-called "public events" – such as the "We stand together with Russia" forum – in order to manipulate the local residents ahead of the "referendum".

"A series of visits to Kherson Oblast by members of the Russian State Duma [the Russian parliament - ed.] and other high-ranking officials have been planned. But someone leaked the schedule of those visits [to Ukraine - ed.] and the orcs will therefore have to change it. It’s also possible that the VIP visitors from Moscow will have to get to Kherson by water," the deputy chairman of the oblast council remarked.

Earlier: On 28 July, Sobolevskyi shared photographs which show that Russian occupying forces are attempting to construct a pontoon crossing in Kherson since the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed the Antonivka road bridge.
