"I would like to apologize again for what I did,” Shishimarin said.
“I do not deny it and I am ready to accept all the measures that will be taken.”

If convicted, Shishimarin may face life in prison. His verdict will be announced on May 23. He pleaded guilty to the murder on May 18.
On May 19, Shishimarin revealed that he had been ordered to shoot the civilian by an ensign, and another man who was in the car with them.

This is the first trial against a Russian military service member for crimes committed in Ukraine.
According to the investigation, on February 28, the 21-year-old Russian invader murdered an unarmed resident of the village of Chupakhivka who was riding a bicycle along the roadside. The man died on the spot, a few dozen meters from his home.
