The revolting execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russian soldiers, as seen is recent footage, is currently under investigation, Ukraine’s Prosecutor General's Office announced on Feb. 18.

Law enforcement authorities report that in Avdiivka, Donetsk Oblast, six Ukrainian soldiers were executed. These servicemen, critically injured and immobilized, were awaiting evacuation at the time of their execution.

In another grave incident in Vesele, near Bakhmut, disturbing drone footage showed a Russian soldier methodically executing two captured Ukrainian servicemen at point-blank range.

Russian forces executed two more Ukrainian POWs, though the exact location was not disclosed, the Tavria Operational Strategic Group reported on Feb. 18.

The Prosecutor General's Office highlighted these executions as severe breaches of the Geneva Convention, marking them for investigation under war crime statutes and premeditated murder (Article 438, Part 2 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code). Convictions could lead to life sentences for those responsible.

DeepState, an analytical portal, also disclosed that Russian forces executed six Ukrainian soldiers at a position known as Museum (formerly military unit Zenit) in Avdiivka. These soldiers were left behind following the Ukrainian military's strategic retreat from the city, with four among them too injured to move.

The atrocities were perpetrated amid the strategic withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Avdiivka on the night of Feb. 17. The tactical move is aimed to prevent the encirclement and safeguard the lives of Ukrainian soldiers.

During the pullout from Avdiivka, the Tavria Operational Strategic Group reported the capture of several Ukrainian soldiers.
