A Russian Su-25 fighter jet crashed in Krasnodar Krai, Russia, according to reports in Russian media on July 17.

Video footage of the incident has surfaced on Russian Telegram channels, showing the aircraft plunging into the sea. It is believed that one of the pilots managed to eject from the plane.

There are however unconfirmed reports that the pilot subsequently died of his injuries.

The crash occurred in the Yeysk Lagoon, a bay in the Sea of Azov, just a few kilometers away from a beach where vacationers were present.

Aviation units are currently surveying the area where the fighter jet went down.

The Baza Telegram channel reports that the aircraft was engaged in a training flight and crashed near the airfield.

The cause of the Su-25 crash has not yet been disclosed.

On May 13, two Russian Mi-8 military helicopters, along with the fighter jets Su-34 and Su-35, crashed nearly simultaneously in Russia’s Bryansk Oblast. All crew members died in the incident.

Subsequently, it was revealed that the Ukrainian Air Force shot down the aircraft using the Patriot air defense system.
