STORY: The group of 12, which included two guides, set off to climb the 15,597 foot volcano on Tuesday (August 30) but ran into difficulty after one tourist fell to their death at an altitude of almost 14,000 ft on Saturday (September 3), authorities said.

"According to preliminary information, six tourists from a 12 people tourist group were separated and died while climbing. Moreover, there are other casualties," said Elizaveta Denisyuk, a senior assistant to the prosecutor of the Kamchatka region for media relations.
