“For two consecutive days in Mariupol, we are witnessing the consequences of the Kherson retreat of the Russians,” Andryushchenko said.

“The presence of military personnel, both the Russian military and the ‘DNR’ groups, increased rapidly. They used to move past the city before, now they arrive and settle directly in Mariupol. Once again, they are placing themselves in empty houses, apartments of Mariupol residents.”

The city has also recorded an increase in the movement of military convoys with both equipment and combat kits, Andryushchenko added.

“At least twice a day, convoys of trucks numbering 40-60 vehicles move from the Mangush direction in the Volnovakha/Donetsk direction. The amount of equipment remaining in the city is also increasing,” he said.

According to Andryushchenko, Mariupol is turning into the Russians’ main military-logistics hub and rear base since their retreat from Kherson.

The Armed Forces entered Kherson on Nov. 11, the city having been occupied since the first days of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine. Ukrainian flags now fly in the city, including over the State Administration building.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed later in the day that the Armed Forces of Ukraine were liberating Kherson. However, the city has not yet been completely cleared of the Russian invaders, he said.

The Ministry of Defense said that clearing up the city may take several weeks.

In total, as of the morning of Nov. 12, the Armed Forces of Ukraine had liberated more than 3,000 square kilometers of territoriy in the south. According to the General Staff, Ukrainian forces have already reached the Dnipro River in some areas of Kherson Oblast.
