Russian troop losses in Ukraine exceed 100,000, says Ukraine’s General Staff

The enemy lost 660 soldiers in fighting over the last 24 hours, as well as over 19,000 units of equipment.

The total combat losses of the enemy from Feb. 24 to Dec. 22 are the following (change over past day in parentheses):

  • Personnel – about 100,400 (+660);

  • Tanks – 3,003 (+1);

  • Armored combat vehicles – 5,981 (+2);

  • Artillery systems – 1,978 (+6);

  • Multiple launch rocket systems – 413 (+1);

  • Air defense systems – 212 (+0);

  • Warplanes – 283 (+1);

  • Helicopters – 267 (+0);

  • UAV operational-tactical level – 1,693 (+5);

  • Cruise missiles – 653 (+0);

  • Warships / boats – 16 (+0);

  • Motor vehicles and fuel tankers – 4,615 (+7);

  • Special equipment – 178 (+0).

According to the General Staff, this data is currently being updated.

Russia attacked Ukraine on Feb. 24. Dec. 22 marks the 302nd day of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. Invading Russian forces initially tried to advance from the north, east and south, attacking peaceful cities throughout Ukraine. Civilian targets across Ukrainian cities remain under sporadic Russian air strikes, while settlements along the Russian border are regularly shelled. Since October, the enemy has also been hitting Ukrainian cities with Iranian-made kamikaze drones.

During this time, the Kremlin has changed the goals of its war in Ukraine several times.

Invading Russian forces currently occupy parts of Zaporizhzhya, Kherson, Luhansk, Donetsk, Mykolayiv, and Kharkiv oblasts.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces launched counter-offensives in the south and east of Ukraine, striking at Russian ammunition depots and troop concentrations.

Shortly after the beginning of the Kherson counter-offensive, the Ukrainian army launched another counter-offensive in Kharkiv Oblast in the north-east of the country. Most of the oblast was liberated from Russian occupation in just a few days.

On Nov. 11, the Ukrainian military also liberated the city of Kherson and ousted the invaders from the right bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson Oblast. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are also gradually liberating Luhansk Oblast.

At the same time, the situation remains tense in Donetsk Oblast, with Russian invasion forces launching dozens of attacks on the key town of Bakhmut in the past weeks.
