According to the Ukrainian military, the enemy is conducting offensive operations to encircle Ukrainian troops near the town of Lysychansk, across the Siversky Donets River from Severodonetsk, as well as blocking the main supply routes.

In the Severodonetsk area, the enemy has captured the settlements of Loskutivka and Ray-Oleksandrivka. The invaders are also conducting assault operations in order to establish control over the settlement of Syrotyne.

The General Staff added that the enemy was carrying out preparatory measures to cross the Siversky Donets River.

Earlier Oleksandr Striuk, the head of Severodonetsk's civil and military administration, said that street fighting in the town continued and about 500 civilians remained in the basements of the Azot chemical plant.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the fate of the Donbas was largely being decided in the battle for Severodonetsk, while the battle for the town was one of the hardest fought in the whole war.
