Russians fire more than 20 cruise missiles at Ukraine, air defenses shoot down 12 — Zaluzhnyy

The Russian military fired air-launched cruise missiles using Tu-95MS strategic bombers from the Caspian Sea, as well as from ground-based missile systems.

Ukrainian defenders shot down six of the 12 missiles within Kyiv Oblast, five in Zhytomyr Oblast and one in Khmelnytsky Oblast.

During the massive Russian attack on Ukraine on Dec. 31, the Russians hit the capital and other regions.

In Kyiv, explosions rang out in three districts — one person died, 21 were injured. Hotels and the Palats Ukraina concert hall in the city center were also damaged.

The Russians also attacked Khmelnytskyy (part of the regional center lost power, seven injured), Zaporizhzhya (four injured, including a pregnant woman and a child) and Mykolaiv oblasts (six injured).
