Russians open fire on their own soldiers in Donetsk Oblast – video

The commander of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, Andriy Biletsky, unveiled new footage of the operation to liberate the village of Andriyvka in Donetsk Oblast on Sept. 15.
It shows that in a desperate turn of events, Russian forces resorted to opening fire on their own soldiers.
According to Biletsky, the assault group of the 2nd Mechanized Battalion was in the process of capturing another group of prisoners when the Russians received word that the village was lost and their fighters were surrendering en masse. But in a chilling twist, the Russians issued orders to open fire on their own positions.
“‘We don’t abandon our own; we eliminate them.’ (…) Then the hit comes,” Biletsky recounted.
“At the command post, there was silence, and everyone turned pale. As the smoke cleared, all our targets were hit. One prisoner was torn to pieces, but two were fortunate, and they were spared, brought out to live. In war, luck plays a crucial role.”
Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyar initially announced the liberation of Andriyvka on Sept. 14. However, later on, fighters from the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade refuted this information, labeling it as premature.

On Sept. 15, the capture of the village was officially confirmed by the Ukrainian military’s General Staff and subsequently by the 3rd Assault Brigade.
According to Malyar, the situation on the previous day had been highly dynamic, with multiple fluctuations throughout the day.
In a statement issued by the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, they assert that they have successfully defeated the 72nd Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Russian army, including its command, in the fighting. They claim to have cleared the way for a breakthrough on the right flank from Bakhmut.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces have also incurred significant losses in both equipment and personnel, the brigade said.
