Russians using residents as ‘human shields’ in Mariupol by training military at local businesses

The Russian occupiers are using human shields by setting up a military training ground in the private sector near temporarily occupied Mariupol, reported Mariupol City Council, who referenced the Sprotyv National Resistance Centre.

The invaders use Mariupol residents as "human shields", the City Council said.

"The occupiers cynically create their military bases where citizens live, so, using Mariupol people as shields,” said the city's Mayor, Vadym Boychenko. “This is extremely cynical and shows their true attitude to people's lives".

An infectious disease was reported to spread in the city, according to Ukrainian authorities. The Russians did not report it. The city is under the threat of an epidemic.
