Rutgers football: Willie Tyler has joined Louisville out of the transfer portal

Willie Tyler, who played last season along the offensive line for Rutgers football, has joined Louisville. The veteran offensive tackle announced his transfer portal decision on Sunday via his social media.

Last offseason, Tyler came to Rutgers via the transfer portal following an impressive 2021 season at Louisiana-Monroe. He played both tackle positions during his lone season in the Big Ten. Tyler is also able to play either guard position.

A well-traveled offensive lineman, Tyler was honored during Senior Day before the final Rutgers home game of the season. He didn’t announce his decision to enter the transfer portal until March.

Tyler was a high school standout as a member of the class of 2019, signing with Texas as a former three-star recruit after spending one season at the JUCO level.

Louisville finished last season 8-5 and with an impressive win over Cincinnati in the Fenway Bowl. Tyler projects to start at one of the tackle positions for the Cardinals, giving him a chance to get some more film for NFL teams.
