Rutgers wrestling releases full 2022-23 schedule, will host Penn State and Michigan

Rutgers released its full wrestling schedule for the 2022-23 season on Tuesday morning.

The schedule only includes five home duals, but two of them are against top programs in the country. The Scarlet Knights will host Michigan on Jan. 22 and Penn State on Feb. 10. Penn State and Michigan finished first and second, respectively, in the team standings at the most recent NCAA Championships.

Rutgers will host those duals, and duals against Michigan State and Northwestern, in Jersey Mike's Arena. But the Scarlet Knights' first dual, against Clarion on Nov. 11, will be held in the team's old venue, College Ave. Gym. Coach Scott Goodale, who took over the program in 2007, will be going for his 200th win in that one.

Rutgers will wrestle five Big Ten duals on the road, and will also face traditional rivals Princeton (Dec. 11) and Rider (Jan. 8) on the road. The Scarlet Knights will wrestle against Arizona State and Sacred Heart at Journeymen WrangleMania at Liberty High School in Bethlehem, Pa. on Nov. 12, and will wrestle Penn and Drexel in the Garden State Grapple at Prudential Center on Dec. 4.

South Plainfield graduate Joe Heilmann, an NCAA qualifier, transferred to Rutgers back in April. The Scarlet Knights also picked up a commitment last weekend from Alex Nini, a state placewinner from Christian Brothers Academy.
