From Town & Country

It goes without saying that Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a judicial icon. Since she ascended to the Supreme Court in 1993, becoming only the second woman in history to do so, she has distinguished herself as one of the most respected jurists in modern history as well as an outspoken voice for the importance of women's equality. But far from all work and no play, the 86-year-old justice-cum-cultural-phenom has also made a point over the years of standing out for her fashion sense as well.

Famous for the decorative jabots and necklaces she uses to adorn her robes for the Court—each chosen to send specific and subtle messages about her personal opinions—the great RBG made another style statement this past week, and people can't stop talking about it.

On February 14, the justice stepped out to present American philanthropist Agnes Gund with the very first Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Woman of Leadership Award in recognition of "an extraordinary woman who has exercised a positive and notable influence on society and served as exemplary role model in both principles and practice," according to a release. For the occasion, Ginsburg sported an elegantly understated ensemble with a gold-embroidered black top and black tuxedo pants, but it was really her shoes that stole the show; paired with dove-gray tights, RBG dazzled in a pair of glittering heels.

Martha Stewart shared a photo from the event, and the look quickly went viral.

Of course, the daring style should come as no surprise—Ginsburg has, after all, never been one to shy away from a statement—but for those looking for a little going-out inspiration this week, consider this look Supreme-approved.
