Here is a list of Rutherford County election results for the May 3 primary. The general election is Aug. 4.

Rutherford County Sheriff

Republican primary

  • Winner Mike Fitzhugh, incumbent: 7,470

  • Virgil Gammon: 5,968

  • Tom Sissom: 4,351

Pat Garrett, independent, will meet Fitzhugh in the general election.

  • Winner Joe Carr: 6,862

  • Rhonda Allen: 6,239

  • Bill Ketron, incumbent: 4,487

Joe Carr will face off with independent candidates Royce Olen Johnson, Randy Allen and Norman Hanks in the Aug. 4 general election.

  • District 8: Pettus Read, incumbent Republican: 1,192. Matthew Burke, Democrat: 109. Nominees face each other Aug. 4.

  • Zone 1: Tammy Sharp, incumbent Republican, unopposed: 1,033

  • Zone 3: Caleb Tidwell, Republican, winner: 1,639; Tim Holden, incumbent Republican: 1,454

  • Tidwell will face off against independent candidate Jason Scales in the Aug. 4 general election.

  • Zone 4: Katie Darby, Republican, winner: 1,649; Tiffany R. Johnson, Republican: 1,128

  • Zone 7: Frances Rosales, Republican: 2,248, will face off against independent Cindy Daniel in the Aug. 4 general election.
