Mr. and Mrs. Larry T. Rutledge of Monroe celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary recently.

A party for extended family, hosted by their children, took place at the Ida Township Hall.

Mr. Rutledge and Linda Austin were married Oct. 13, 1962. They are members of Zion Lutheran Church of Monroe.

The couple’s children and their significant others are Julie Reaume and Larry of LaSalle, Cindy Neely and Verlin of Ohio and Thomas Rutledge and Gina of LaSalle. They also have eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Rutledge retired from his LaSalle Township supervisor position in 2012. He also retired in 1992 as an inspector for Ford Motor Co.; he worked for Ford for 30 years.

His proudest moment, said his family, was being elected to the position of state president of the Michigan Township Association. He enjoys camping, traveling and telling “grandpa jokes” to their grandchildren.

Mrs. Rutledge was employed for 30 years by John Hancock Financial, where she was a securities and mutual fund advisor. After retiring, she continued her art career and has painted more than 300 pictures of Monroe homes. She enjoys spending time with family at their home.
