RV dealership gathering runs through Thursday

Sep. 26—ELKHART — This week, it's all about the dealers.

Representatives from RV dealerships across Michiana began to descend onto the grounds of the Northern Indiana Event Center Monday for an annual, and largely informal gathering which has gone on for the last 10 years.

"It's very steady," said Gulfstream Coach representative Scott Parkhurst in the early afternoon Tuesday, as to how the event was going.

In addition to Gulfstream Coach, a number of other dealers and manufacturers had a presence at the event, including Heartland RV, Grand Design, Keystone, Winnebago, Thor and others.

"Essentially all of the active manufacturers in the Elkhart area have some representation here," said Paul Campbell, director of marketing for Gulfstream Coast.

Campbell said although that no one is excluded from the gathering, as smaller manufacturers also take part, retail customers are not encouraged to come. Although the RV Hall of Fame and Museum is very close by, they officially have no role in the event — the companies decide informally on which days to host it.

"Every manufacturer stakes the claim to a little bit of real estate out here," he said, adding that RVs are sold between dealers at the event.

Campbell added that the fall is the ideal season for the gathering.

"This is a good time to show merchandise before the calendar clicks over to another year," he said. "We're past most of the supply chain issues and we have a lot of dealers ordering product."

The gathering is expected to run though Thursday.
