MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WFRV) – He was the 2007 National League Rookie of the Year and the 2011 National League MVP, and now, he’ll be immortalized in Milwaukee Brewers history forever.

Brewers’ all-time home runs leader and six-time All-Star Ryan Braun will be honored as the 23rd individual to enter Milwaukee’s Walk of Fame after his successful 14-year career from 2007-2020.

For the latest on high school sports in northeast Wisconsin:

The Walk of Fame commemorates some of the greatest names in Milwaukee baseball history with a granite-shaped home plate set in the ground outside of American Family Field.

Braun was elected by Wisconsin media members and Brewers executives with 80% of the vote, surpassing the 65% needed.

“I am very humbled and honored to be recognized among the Brewers greats,” said Braun. “I want to thank my teammates, coaches, ownership, and support staff for their many contributions over the course of my career. None of this would be possible without the love and encouragement of my family, friends, and fans. I am forever grateful. Milwaukee will always be a second home to me and my family.”

In 2022, Braun was inducted into the Wall of Honor, which is based on established statistical, service year, and award achievements for players, coaches, and executives who spent time with the Brewers organization. He joined the permanent exhibit with a bronze plaque affixed to the exterior of the ballpark commemorating his contributions.

“We are excited to honor Ryan, one of the most talented players in Brewers history, with his induction into the Walk of Fame,” said Brewers Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Arnold. “Ryan was not just at the heart of teams that featured an explosive offense. He also was one of the most clutch players in big moments during his years with the Brewers.”
