It’s an occasion that all college graduates will remember for the rest of their lives, commencement. And even more so for those that had to move to a virtual format because of the COVID-19 pandemic last year.

That might be even more memorable now because Ohio State announced Friday that head football coach Ryan Day and his wife Christina (Nina) will speak at a 2020 graduate celebration ceremony on the same weekend of the traditional 2021 summer commencement next month. OSU is making good on a promise to hold an in-person ceremony for the 2020 class once it was safe to do so, and Day and his wife will be a part of it.

“Ryan and Nina are prominent members of our Buckeye community and have long served as well-spoken and highly recognized ambassadors of all Ohio State has to offer; it’s both fitting and exciting that our 2020 graduates and their families will have the opportunity to hear their inspirational message,” said President Kristina M. Johnson in a statement.

The celebration of 2020 graduates’ accomplishments will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7, at Ohio Stadium. Tickets are not required, though graduates are asked to RSVP. According to the statement, attendees can wear academic regalia but it is not required.
