Ryan Leaf to attend Hornell Sports Night

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – Hornell Sports Night is proud to reveal its next special guest for this year’s event.

Former NFL quarterback and current college football analyst on ESPN Ryan Leaf is coming to Hornell in April. The 48th edition of Hornell Sports Night will be on Saturday, April 13 at 4 PM. Sports Night will again take place from The Main Place located at 251 Main Street in Hornell.

Leaf, the second overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft, spent four seasons in the league with the San Diego Chargers and Dallas Cowboys. In college, Leaf starred at Washington State University and earned first-team All-American and Pac-10 honors. Leaf was also named the Pac-10 Player of The Year in 1997 when the Cougars made a Rose Bowl appearance losing to eventual National Champion Michigan.

Leaf, 47, has battled several years of substance abuse and is now a motivational speaker using his story of overcoming setbacks in finding success and peace. Ryan will bring his inspiring words of battling addiction and getting to the other side of it which saved his life.

Leaf joins four-time MLB All-Star and four-time World Series Champion Chuck Knoblauch as a special guest this year. More on upcoming guests will be revealed in the weeks ahead for the dinner, meet and greet and auction.

18 Sports’ Andy Malnoske will serve as the emcee of Hornell Sports Night, a night dedicated to raising money for The Special Olympics and local sports groups.
