Ryan Reynolds is OK after security barrier collapse: 'I think it looked worse than it was'

Ryan Reynolds is OK after a barrier collapsed in front of him at Comic Con Experience in Brazil.

The actor, 43, is shown in videos hopping offstage Sunday during a Sao Paolo Comic Con event to greet fans, several of whom leaned across a security barrier to shake his hand or snap a photo. The barrier collapsed under the collective weight, and Reynolds quickly jumped back up on stage to avoid getting caught underneath.

"I think it looked worse than it was," Reynolds told Entertainment Tonight afterward. "All I was worried about were the people. ... What you could tell is that (the people) were falling, like, 'Oh, they're gonna be fine,' and it's like, 'Oh, but that leg is gonna go,' so I jumped out. But it was, yeah, everyone was fine."

Reynolds' "Free Guy" co-star, "Stranger Things" star Joe Keery, can also be seen onstage. USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Reynolds, Keery and Comic Con Experience for further comment.

"My only job that (wife Blake Lively) said as I was leaving was, 'Just come home in one piece,'" Reynolds added.

Reynolds has also made headlines as of late for his liquor brand's fast-acting response to the viral Peloton ad last week.

When we first met the now-infamous Peloton wife, played by actress Monica Ruiz, she was "changed" after a year of riding her exercise bike, gifted to her by her husband. That change was supposedly positive, though the internet didn't seem to agree. Many on Twitter called the ad offensive.

Reynolds' ad shows the same woman at a bar drinking with two girlfriends. Her Peloton husband does not make an appearance, and she looks a little worse for wear, while her friends offer her support and glasses of Aviation Gin.

"To new beginnings," she says determinedly, raising her glass and toasting with her friends before taking down the remainder of her drink. Her friend passes her over her own beverage.
