Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney will return to the pitch for a second season of documentary Welcome to Wrexham at Disney+.

The docuseries follows the Deadpool and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia stars as they purchase and revive the third-oldest professional football club in the world, Welsh team Wrexham AFC.

Today (April 27), Disney+ confirmed a second season is in production and promises to be "WILD". Judging from the caps lock, we tend to the believe them.

"Coming in 2023, Season 2 is going to be WILD," Disney+'s Twitter account wrote alongside a picture of Reynolds and McElhenney grinning as they raise a cup.

The two stars had virtually no experience in managing a football club, but engaged with the delighted and only slightly puzzled local community, hoping to bring some change and a few trophies in for the boys.

It seems their efforts paid off. Under the two actors' ownership, the club defeated all expectations by returning to the men's Football League for the first time in 15 years after winning the Vanarama National League trophy.

In other Reynolds news, the star has a few other projects up his sleeve. Earlier this month, it was announced that the Free Guy protagonist has teamed up with Aquaman star Jason Momoa, The White Lotus's Aubrey Plaza and True Detective's Vince Vaughn for an upcoming R-rated movie.

Titled Animal Friends, the film from director Peter Atencio (Key & Peele) is a road trip combining live-action and animation.

And, of course, Reynolds will be returning as the Merc with a Mouth in the third Deadpool outing, set for release in November 2024. This will be the first Deadpool film to be officially released as part of the MCU, kicking off Phase Six.

Welcome to Wrexham season 1 is available to stream on Disney+. Season 2 has been confirmed.

Deadpool and Deadpool 2 are streaming on the same platform and are also available on digital download, DVD and Blu-ray. Deadpool 3, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, has a release date of November 8, 2024.
