For years, Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic have cohosted E!'s red carpet coverage for all of the big award shows, including the Golden Globes, Oscars, Emmys and Grammys. Ahead of the 2021 Golden Globes, however, many viewers noticed that Ryan was missing from the pre-show. And now, Ryan will not be on E! before the start of the Grammys, either.

In early February, Ryan announced his departure from E!'s Live From the Red Carpet show. On Instagram, the 46-year-old television host — who also has TV gigs on Live With Kelly and Ryan, American Idol, and New Year's Rockin' Eve and his own radio show, On Air With Ryan Seacrest — explained why he's decided to step back from E!

On February 4, Ryan wrote on Instagram:

After 14 years of hosting E!’s Live from the Red Carpet I’ve decided to move on to new adventures. I’ll miss the whole crew that works so hard behind the scenes and of course my amazing partner Giuliana. Thanks to everyone for watching all these years.

While filming last season's finale of American Idol in May, fans grew concerned about Ryan's health after he struggled to read off his prompts and his right eye appeared slightly swollen. Soon after, Ryan's rep clarified to People that Ryan was "adjusting to the new normal and finding work-home balance, with the added stress of having to put on live shows from home." Later on Live, Ryan attributed his behavior on Idol to "exhaustion" from working around the clock.

In response to Ryan's announcement, the network issued its own statement: "E! has long enjoyed our relationship with Ryan over the years especially as cohost of E!'s signature red carpet series. He has been instrumental in giving viewers a front row seat to some of Hollywood's biggest nights. We are extremely appreciative of his many contributions and he will always be part of the E! family."
