Rylan Clark got candid in yesterday's (September 29) episode of The One Show while discussing his upcoming memoir, revealing how the breakdown of his marriage impacted his mental health.

Talking about his book Ten: The Decade That Changed My Future, Rylan explained to hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp why he chose to start the book by talking about the end of his marriage to ex-husband Dan Neal.

Asked by Roman how hard it was to be so open and honest in the chapter, Rylan replied: "It was harder writing about it than actually living it which is obviously quite strange. There was things that I was going to put in the book that obviously I didn't from a legal point of view."

"Not that it was anything salacious," he continued. "Just things like I would receive a text saying x, y, z and the legal team would be like 'can you just show us that text so we can prove it if ever...?' and I was like 'sure' and just scrolling back, 'I can't do this', so I took it out because I didn't want to live it.

"I got so ill last year that I don't need to do that."

Fans watching the show were quick to praise Rylan for his honesty in talking about his health.

"Inspiring to hear Rylan is clearly going to be so open about his Mental Health after his marriage breakdown. Hopefully it will help more people, Men especially to open up and know it's ok not to be ok," one person wrote.

Another added: "Not one for celebrities but a lovely moment there between Rylan and Alex Jones on The One Show. He really does seem like one of the most genuine people on the telebox."

Despite the struggles he's been through in the past year, Rylan assured the presenters that he was looking forward to the future and working on healing himself. "I'm definitely on my way," he said.

"I'm on my way to sorting out sorting this out and sorting this out," he added, gesturing towards his head and heart.

"Things take time."
