S Club 7 fans were left in tears as the group paid tribute to late bandmate Paul Cattermole as they started their reunion tour.

The 90s stars have got back together for a string of shows to mark their 25th anniversary, six months after Cattermole died suddenly aged 46 from natural causes.

The group, now known as S Club, kicked off the Good Times tour in Manchester by dimming the lights and playing a video montage of the singer.

Band member Jon Lee asked the crowd to "raise the roof one last time for Paul", as Bradley McIntosh said: "Wow that’s our brother right there man. Gone but you will never be forgotten. We miss you every single day."

Hannah Spearritt was absent, as it was confirmed earlier this year that she would not be joining her bandmates on the road.

But Tina Barrett, Rachel Stevens and Jo O'Meara were all on stage and also remembered Cattermole, leaving many people in the audience in tears.

"Never thought I'd cry at a S Club gig, be warned if you are going," one fan posted on X, formerly Twitter, adding the hashtag "#Paul".

"Me and my sister got so emotional," said another. "Very nostalgic and fun."

Someone else said seeing videos of the late singer was "absolutely an emotional moment", and others added crying emojis.

"What a nice homage to Paul Cattermole!" said another audience member, as one said listening to S Club's songs without Cattermole "made me cry".

The singer was found dead at his Dorset home in April.

A spokeswoman for Dorset Coroner’s Office later confirmed: "We confirm that Mr Cattermole died from natural causes and our investigations have concluded.

"As his death was from natural causes there will be no inquest."

It was later reported that the star was suffering from underlying heart issues.
