Sacramento-area taqueria to open a third spot next month: ‘We cannot wait to serve you’

This spring, an authentic taco operation will expand its business to a northern Sacramento neighborhood.

In an email to subscribers on Monday, Sacramento-based Taqueria La Perla Tapatia announced it will open a third site in early May at 3305 Northgate Blvd., Suite 100, but was tight-lipped about the details.

According to a state alcohol distribution license, the new location is called Taqueria La Nueva Vallarta.

As of Tuesday morning, restaurant representatives were not available for comment.

“We cannot wait to serve you and will keep you updated on our Opening Date,” the family-owned business said. “Thank you for ordering directly from Taqueria La Perla Tapatia in Sacramento and supporting our family-owned restaurant.”

The new taqueria will share the same name as the site at 10305 Fairway Drive in Roseville.

The other location, Taqueria La Perla Tapatia, is at 2820 Marconi Ave. in Arden Arcade.

What is Taqueria La Nueva Vallarta?

Advertised as a friendly atmosphere, both Taqueria La Perla Tapatia and Taqueria La Nueva Vallarta whip up fresh authentic Mexican cuisine, from breakfast and dinner plates to all-day lunch specials and desserts.

Last year, the taqueria at 2820 Marconi Ave. was recognized by Yelp as one of the top taco spots in the country. It ranked No. 29 out of 100.

“We are truly honored to be recognized as one of the top 100 taco spots in the nation by Yelp,” Toni Malarkey, owner of Taqueria La Perla Tapatia, said in a news release last year following the announcement. “This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team in delivering delicious and memorable taco experiences to our customers.”

It has 389 customer reviews and an average of 4.7 stars on Yelp.

What’s on the menu?

The new Taqueria La Nueva Vallarta will bring the community of Northgate a variety of burritos, tortas and tacos.

Customers can choose from a menu filled with traditional street tacos with corn tortillas or crispy tacos.

The seafood options are vast, like ceviche and shrimp tostadas, and soups with octopus and shrimp. Also available are chilaquiles, deep-fried corn tortillas slathered with red sauce, nachos, taco salads, enchiladas and quesadillas.

On Taco Tuesdays, meat, and fish and shrimp tacos range from $2.09 to $2.59.

The drink list includes coffee, Jarritos, a carbonated beverage, and agua fresca, cool fruit juice.

The dessert menu is limited to flan and churros.

“We are committed to providing the Sacramento community with in-restaurant prices and nominal service fees when you order directly from our restaurant,” Taqueria La Perla Tapatia said on Monday, adding that customers who spend at least $30 will save $5 when they use the coupon code THANKYOU5.

A tip: Cash transactions are cheaper.
